Some good news here:
To ease the pain of the remaining offseason, a total of five spring training contests will be shown on ROOT Sports.
The games that will be televised are as follows:
| Friday, March 1 | at Boston | 7:00PM |
| Friday, March 8 | vs Baltimore | 7:00PM |
| Saturday, March 9 | vs Minnesota | 1:00PM |
| Saturday, March 23 | at Boston | 1:30PM |
| Sunday, March 24 | vs Baltimore | 1:00PM |
This is a step up from four games they showed last year. Plus, one of the 2012 games was a Wednesday afternoon game.
This year, however, will consist of weekend ballgames. Two Fridays are included, but they are night games. In addition, ROOT will show two Saturdays and a Sunday, all in the afternoon.
ROOT’s broadcasts will be the real deal, as they’ll also feature pregame and postgame shows. Other coverage, such as Inside Pirates Baseball and Pirates Playback, will be televised in March as well. This will definitely help the offseason seem a little shorter.
