Landing Spots for Former Pirates

With spring training set to begin in just a few short weeks, a great number of professional ballplayers have found new homes for 2013. Starting with players from the 2012 team, here are the new locations for some former Buccos…

• Joel Hanrahan and Brock Holt were shipped up to Boston, of course.
• Drew Sutton will also head to the Red Sox, as he signed a minor league deal in November.
• Chris Resop was dealt to the AL West champion A’s.
• The Baltimore Orioles acquired Yamaico Navarro.
• Kevin Correia, Eric Fryer, and Jeff Clement all inked deals with the Minnesota Twins.
• Erik Bedard recently signed with the Houston Astros.
• Hisanori Takahashi agreed to a minor league deal with the Cubs.
• Juan Cruz is going to Philadelphia.
• Former All-Star Evan Meek is headed to Texas.
• Chad Qualls agreed with the Miami Marlins.
• Casey McGehee signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of the JPL.

Here are a bunch of Pirates from a few years back…

• Ross Ohlendorf signed a minor league deal in Washington.
• Lefty reliever Sean Burnett signed a two-year contract with the LA Angels.
• The Brewers picked up Tom Gorzelanny and Mike Gonzalez.
• Garrett Olson and Justin Thomas are going to Oakland.
• Houston signed Jose Veras.
• Matt Capps signed with Cleveland.
• Ronny Paulino agreed to a minor league contract with the Mariners.
• Boston signed David Ross to a two-year deal.
• Lyle Overbay is also going to the Red Sox.
• Former Bucco farmhand Jeff Keppinger signed with the Chicago White Sox for three years.
• Brian Bixler is headed to the Mets on a minor league contract.
• The Cardinals signed Ronny Cedeno to a one-year deal.
• Cesar Izturis inked a minor league contract with Cincinnati.
• Jason Bay, a former Pirates All-Star, is going to Seattle.
• Matt Diaz will wear the Yankee pinstripes in 2013.
